The Agriculture Roundtable of the China–Russia Business Forum was held in Shanghai on May 23. Ma Youxiang, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, attended the roundtable and delivered remarks.
Vice Minister Ma pointed out that deepening China–Russia economic and trade cooperation in agriculture is an important consensus reached by the presidents of both countries and is eagerly anticipated by industry. In recent years, China and Russia have overcome the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges. Bilateral agro-product trade has increased rapidly despite hardship. Agricultural investment areas have continuously expanded. Fruitful results have been achieved in areas such as the seed and fishery industries and agricultural S&T. China looks forward to Russia accelerating the establishment of the China–Russia Agriculture Pilot Demonstration Zone and other platforms, so as to provide a stronger impetus for expanding bilateral economic and trade cooperation in agriculture.
Sergey Levin, Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, said that Russia attaches great importance to deepening economic and trade relations with China in agriculture and is willing to create a favorable environment for cooperation between companies from the two countries.
Representatives from more than 80 companies and business associations from China and Russia participated in the event, which was hosted by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
