The 5th Summit Forum of Tea Talk by West Lake & “International Tea Day” 2023 China Celebration was held concurrently in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, and Ankang, Shaanxi Province, on May 21, 2023.

The Forum is a major event of the Fifth China International Tea Expo as China celebrated International Tea Day. Minister Tang Renjian attended the Forum and delivered remarks. Zhejiang Province Governor Wang Hao, Shaanxi Province Governor Zhao Gang, and Beth Bechdol, Deputy Director-General of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), addressed the Forum.

新葡萄京娱乐场网址Minister Tang put forward a three-point proposal for leveraging the role of tea to promote global agricultural development and mutual learning among different tea cultures as below:

First, we should strive to remove investment and trade barriers regarding tea industry development, jointly formulate and implement some international standards for tea quality, and create a fair and just trade environment to further facilitate investment and trade.

Second, we should leverage the advantages of various players in germplasm, cultivation management, and intensive processing, carry out tea technology exchanges at multiple levels through multiple channels, and join hands in developing new products and technologies to improve the quality, efficiency, and competitiveness of the tea industry.

Third, we should set up a cooperation and communication platform and carry out tea culture promotion activities to advance mutual learning, people-to-people exchanges, and prosperity and development among all countries.

Taking “Tea and the World  Share Development” as the theme, the Expo attracted nearly 900 tea companies and over 4,000 professional buyers. A slew of events was conducted during the Expo, including the tea appreciation and exchanges event, the China contemporary tea culture forum, the low-carbon development of China's tea industry, and the tea tourism meeting.

Some envoys and representatives from international organizations took part in the International Tea Day” 2023 China Celebration, including envoys to China from South Sudan, Chile, and other countries, as well as representatives of the Representation Offices of FAO, the World Food Programme and the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
